Receive This Gift

Happy Friday!

I’m sure you are all familiar with the saying ‘It’s better to give than receive.’? I find that statement true, yet with a double meaning. When you give to others you in turn get something back as their happiness makes you feel good, so you’ve received the warm feeling of giving. How about when you receive an unexpected gift from someone and you don’t have a reciprocal gift? How does that make you feel? I know for me, that it used to (I’m still working on it) make me uncomfortable as I wasn’t prepared to share something with them. I was caught off guard and didn’t want to appear thoughtless that I hadn’t bought them something. Then there is the do I keep a few non-personal gifts on hand to be prepared and whip it out when an unexpected gift is given? That too felt uncomfortable.

Now I give and receive from my heart. Being able to truly appreciate receiving that unexpected gift feels so much better than worrying about not having something to give in return. Giving a gift and not worrying if they really like it and just enjoying the moment of sharing with family and friends feel a lot better than worrying about getting the ‘perfect’ gift. For me, it’s about creating memories.

Giving Quotes of the day:

“If you wish to experience peace, provide peace for another.” ~ Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalia Lama

“You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.” Kahlil Gibran

“Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give something back by becoming more.” ~ Anthony Robbins

Receiving Quotes of the day:

“Each day offers us the gift of being a special occasion if we can simply learn that as well as giving, it is blessed to receive with grace and a grateful heart.” ~ Sarah Ban Breathnach

“Our bodies are at once the receiving and transmitting stations for life itself. It is the highest wisdom to recognize this fact and train our bodies to render them sensitive and responsive to nature, art, and religion.” ~ Ruth St. Denis

For the next week I invite you to:
GIVE:
An ear to someone who needs to talk
A smile to someone who needs to see brightness
A funny story to someone who needs a lift
A phone call to a distant family member or friend just to say “I was thinking of you”
Mostly I invite you to give to you! Be good to you, breathe, and don’t allow stress and worry into your being. Give peace, health, and happiness to yourself and in turn you will be able to give it to all around you.

RECEIVE:
Compliments – rather than saying any of these “it was no trouble at all, it wasn’t a bother, this old thing, etc…etc…etc”, simply say THANK YOU with a smile.
A smile – instead of rushing through the day, pay attention to those smiling around you, and receive their good mood as it will lift yours as well.
A helping hand – as you will have your turn to be that helping hand, perhaps not to the one helping you, but to another in need.
Mostly I invite you to receive the little daily gifts we often take for granted, the hug of a child, a loved one, a friend; the laughter all around, and the love you have for yourself and others.

My gift to you is wishes of love, laughter, joy, health, peace, and prosperity and that you are able to share all your gifts with those you love.

Seasons Greetings

Happy Friday!

As I sit writing the weekly message with the cold and snow just outside a thick pane of glass, I thought about how much I love Nature. Nature has a natural order and doesn’t let mind get in the way. There is a time for growth (spring), a time to thrive (summer), a time to slow down (fall), and a time to rest (winter). Without each season, the rest wouldn’t be so rich and wonderful. Nature doesn’t worry about what is going to happen next week, next month, next year – it thrives in the season it’s in. Without human involvement, nature is balanced and whole. Nature feels and doesn’t think. Nature simply is.

My favorite season is summer as I love sun, I love being on the water, and I love the vibe of summer. My old self used to dread winter coming – bulky coats, cold weather, slippery roads and sidewalks. Now I enjoy what each day brings. So I have to put on heavier clothing and perhaps walk a little more carefully or drive slower, or even stay in when the weather tells me it’s better to relax at home rather than face the elements, but that too is just fine. I remind myself to live in today rather than what my life will be in six months when the sun is shining and I’m on the water.

Quotes of the day:

“To be interested in the changing seasons is a happier state of mind than to be hopelessly in love with spring.” ~ George Santayana

“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant. If we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.” ~ Anne Bradstreet

For the next week I invite you to live in the moment:
Look up towards the sky when we do have the sunny days and just smile and be thankful.

Stick your tongue out and catch a snowflake and remember how much you loved snow as a child and just laugh.

If there is enough snow, bundle up, make a snowman, lie down and create a snow angel.

Warm your body with a hot chocolate.

Mostly, I invite you to live in the moment and truly enJOY what today brings. If today is bringing you a contrasting experience to what you want in your life, just smile to yourself knowing that it too is just a moment in time and all is well.

Enjoy each day’s season.

Overall Abundance

December 6th, 2007 08:25 am by Carol

I am so grateful for the infinite power of Source.

I recognize Source as Love, as Whole, as Allowing, and as Beauty, Grace, and Peace. I cherish the fact knowing that I am one with Source as Source is ME, around ME, and through ME.I am LoveI am WholeI am AllowingI am BeautifulI am GracefulI am PeacefulI claim within the power of knowing of these truths that my life is filled with overall abundance and I live my true desires. I claim that my life just flows effortlessly and I rejoice in the knowledge that all is well. I claim such overflowing abundance in all facets of my life that I just naturally and lovingly share my abundance with others as we are all part of the greater good. I claim these truths of knowing my goodness, wholeness, and love, and wake up each day refreshed, energetic, and ready to face the day from a space of love. As I walk with Source all around ME, in ME, and through ME, my life just continues to grow and each day is better than the day before.I am so grateful knowing this truth and knowing it’s already done by Universal Law and I release this truth and desires and let Source take care of the details to provide me with this amazingly Loving, Whole, Allowing, Beautiful, Graceful, and Peaceful existence I walk in this lifetime. And So It Is!
