Build Your Resume and Take Flight!

February 27th, 2008 12:39 pm by Carol

 Happy Wednesday!

In the business world we are told to have an updated resume at all times as you never know when you are going to need it. At a moments notice you are prepared to take the next step in your career as your resume is ready to be sent out, received, and decided upon. You are ready to go. You are ready to fly!    How about in your life? Are you prepared to take the next step in your life? Are you ready to go? Are you ready to fly? Do you know what you want? Do you know what you love? What are you passionate about? What are your dreams?   How about being prepared to fly in your life as you’ve been taught to fly in your career? How about showcasing your purpose, successes, desires, and dreams in a life resume?

Quotes of the day: “We are at our very best, and we are happiest, when we are fully engaged in work we enjoy on the journey toward the goal we’ve established for ourselves. It gives meaning to our time off and comfort to our sleep. It makes everything else in life so wonderful, so worthwhile.~ Earl Nightingale “The world has the habit of making room for the man whose words and actions show that he knows where he is going. “ ~ Napoleon Hill“When you discover your mission, you will feel its demand. It will fill you with enthusiasm and a burning desire to get to work on it. “~ W. Clement Stone

For the next week, I invite you to create your life resume by:

Writing a life purpose statement: this should capture what brings you joy, love, and passion. When you read your purpose statement, it should immediately make you tingle with excitement.

Writing down 10 of your current life successes. This can be from graduating high school, getting a promotion, getting married, having a child, climbing a mountain, or getting out of bed through a period of illness. We to often focus on what we haven’t done right in life rather than what we have, so let’s shift our thoughts to success over failure.

Writing down 10 things you are grateful for currently in your life. I am grateful for my health. I am grateful for my family. I am grateful for my happiness. And remember you should even be grateful for the contrasting experiences as it’s helping you define your desires.

Writing down 5 to 10 affirmations of where you want your life to move towards. This could be new job, new home, relationships, health, or anything that brings your happiness and excitement about the future.

Writing down 5 to 10 of your strengths

Writing down 5 to 10 activities and hobbies you love to do.

Include a couple quotes that inspire you.Writing down three references of people you can call when you need that ‘You Rock’ inspirational boost. These references should be people who see your truth and support you in your journey as you do them.

Writing your life resume to really see how amazing your life already is and that it will catapult you to even greater heights. Read your life resume often. Update it often as while you grow, so will your desires and dreams. Read it on the days filled with successes and say YAY ME. Read it on  days of contrasts to remind you of your purpose, your dreams, and your desires. Call your references to celebrate your successes. Call your references on when you need an inspirational boost on contrasting experiences.

Mostly, celebrate where you are today. Celebrate your yesterdays as they’ve brought you to today. Celebrate your tomorrows as your life’s resume is going to take flight and you will fly high.  I already see you soaring!

So get going! Write your life resume and get ready to fly.

Let The Sun Shine In!

February 27th, 2008 12:31 pm by Carol

Happy Wednesday!

Life truly is good and I love basking in the sun of that realization. I also get a giggle out of the aha moments of when I’m not in alignment and seeing the silliness in allowing those thoughts to effect me as switching focus has become quite easy for me. It has been a journey, so I highly recommend practicing moving from a negative thought and turning that statement around to a positive one. I still do that myself; it’s just much easier due to practice.

I am a sun girl and love being on the water. So living in Chicago’s winter for years was challenging for me. I didn’t like snow. I didn’t like cold, and for goodness sakes I didn’t like dreary. For several years I’ve shifted out of the cold and snow beliefs and have found ways to enjoy what those climates bring. Yet until this past Friday, I hadn’t shifted my thoughts on dreary. I can’t tell you how many people I affirmed that to - “I don’t mind the cold or snow of Chicago, but I hate how we don’t have much sun, etc. etc.” And it finally clicked Friday. The day started off with a decent temperature, but dreary. As the weather topic came up with a stranger I chatted with, I again affirmed that belief to her of the “I don’t like dreary” story. I decided to walk home and was enjoying the beauty of downtown Chicago and being with the city’s energy. And it hit me as I thought about how many times I affirm that. As soon as I thought that, the SUN came out and I swear to you she talked to me. The sun said: “Carol I’m still here. I’ve never left. I am just tending to other locations in the World right now. I promise I haven’t left you and I will check in often, see you soon.” I thanked her and sent her on her way. The remainder of the day was cloudy with the sun popping in from time to time, but my spirit was bright regardless of what the outer reality showed.

That evening, I shared that story with a dear friend as we were discussing spiritual topics and growth. She had a beautiful analogy to my story. She likened the Sun to our inner self as we are pure beings of joy and light, yet we let ‘our stories of not good enough, lack, victim beliefs, etc.’ cloud over our truth of light. Our light is always there, we just allow foggy thoughts to mask it. How cool is it that we get to choose to live in light or live in dark - it’s all up to us. ]

Quotes of the Day

“Three things that cannot be long hidden, the sun, the moon, and the truth”~ Thomas Jefferson

Some painters transform the sun into a yellow spot; others transform a yellow spot into the sun” ~ Pablo Picasso

For the next week, I invite you to pay attention to your inner sun by:

Appreciating your inner beauty and spending some time each day giving thanks to your unique qualities you share with the world.

Laughing out loud several times a day as the sun is always shining through laughter.

Shifting out of the cloudy thoughts and bringing them back to your truth of love, peace, joy, and beauty.

Mostly I invite you to bask in your light. See yourself through the rays of your light rather than through the shadows of your gray skies. I invite you to shine so bright that you have to wear SPF 50 even on a dreary Chicago winter day as your truth can brighten the darkest moments.

Authoritatively Speaking

February 27th, 2008 12:14 pm by Carol

Happy Wednesday!

Did you grow up believing that you should respect authority? I certainly did and it’s still a belief I choose to be respectful of people in authority. I certainly don’t have all the answers in life and love being able to connect with other people for recommendations, opinions, suggestions and guidance. If a person is having health issues, contacting a doctor makes great sense. If a person is having legal issues, check in with a lawyer. If a personal is having relationship problems, perhaps seek counseling. Seek assistance from outside sources if you don’t feel you have all the answers as these people are there to help you whether it is a doctor, lawyer, family member, or friend.

Then, after seeking outside sources to help you, I invite you to look inside to your inner authority (intuition).  You are your best authority as nobody knows you better. If a doctor gives you a diagnosis that doesn’t sit well with your inner authority, choose to work from a space of health over illness. If someone treats you less than you feel is appropriate, look inward to see if you believe that to be your truth as you know you best. Only accept those authoritative comments if they are for your highest good. And make sure you inner authority is coming from a space of love and not beating yourself up. How cool is it that you get to choose who to believe and who to follow. You get to say ‘YES that is me’ when people offer you ideas that ‘feel’ right to you. You get to say ‘that isn’t me’ to ideas that don’t ‘feel’ right to you. So tune into your best authority - YOU - listen, breathe, love, and simply be.

Quotes of the day:

”All authority belongs to the people” ~ Thomas Jefferson “This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.”   ~ Dalai Lama

For the next week I invite you to authoritatively say to yourself, I am:

Fully aware of my greatness

Able to make decisions quickly and easily

Healthy and vibrant

Fully able to give and receive love easily

ME, whole, complete, and wonderful

Mostly, I invite you to fine tune your inner authority so you can quickly decide if your external environment is making you feel good or not. Choose those things in your life that bring you joy, happiness, peace, and unlimited love, and I promise you, as you tune your inner authority, you will fine tune your life to the beauty you desire.

Believe me - as I am an Authority on this subject. J

Please Forgive Me?

February 2nd, 2008 11:44 am by Carol

Happy Wednesday!

I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume that all of us have been brought up on the importance of forgiveness. We’ve been taught to forgive those who have done us wrong. And that certainly is true, but who should we be forgiving? If you work from a space of 100% responsibility for your life, which is how I choose to see my life, who are you forgiving? Are you forgiving the guy who cut you off in traffic that started your day out in irritation? Are you forgiving your boss for over working you as he/she just doesn’t understand? How about forgiving your spouse for xyz? I could go on for pages on scenarios that could require forgiveness to the outside world, but truly is that where forgiveness should start? The definition of forgive is ‘to grant pardon to (a person).’ Most of us have seen that person as someone else, but I’m inviting you to re-look at the word forgive and see from within.

Quotes of the day:

“Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future.” ~ Paul Boese

“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.” ~ Buddha

“Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.” ~ Mark Twain

I invite you for the next week to forgive yourself:

For allowing the person who you perceive as being rude and cutting you off in traffic into your consciousness to start your day off in a negative space as you choose how to react to others.
For getting upset while watching the news as you can choose to see peace over violence, love over hatred.
For seeing yourself with limits and not seeing how truly powerful you are to live life fulfilled.
For anything that doesn’t allow you to realize your truth and to truly shine. Your truth is an amazingly unique person full of love, life, and endless possibilities.

Mostly I invite you to forgive yourself for being hard on yourself as we tend to be our worst enemies. Know that whatever is going on in your life right now is there in perfect timing, even if it is a contrasting experience of what you don’t want in your life. You can choose to embrace contrasting experiences by seeing the possibilities that lie within them. You can choose to savor and be giddy about the experiences that let you know that you are on the right path to your dreams and desires. How fun is it that you get to choose how to experience life!?!

So forgive me for forgiving you, as when I start feeling the need to forgive someone else, it will be a reminder to me to look within and forgive myself.
