How Can I Help?

March 25th, 2009 11:11 am by Carol

You come to me and say you are dealing with a devastating illness and you are scared. I am not a doctor, but I can listen and send you love.

You come to me worried about your investments. I am not a financial planner, but I can listen and send you love.

You come to me in fear of your marriage collapsing. I am not a marriage counselor, but I can listen and send you love.

You come to me as you’ve just lost your job. I don’t have a job to give you, but I can listen and send you love.

Has any of your family or friends come to you with fears and worries? Or perhaps these are feelings you are personally dealing with. You don’t want those you love to feel scared, worried, or fearful, yet, the scenarios seem overwhelming. What can you as one person do?

You CAN listen. You CAN be compassionate. You CAN send them love. Empathy and compassion are amazing traits to feel connected to others. Take a moment and look at how you express empathy and compassion with yourself and others. Be empathetic and compassionate, but I encourage you not to join in the worry wart syndrome. Rather than spending time thinking of those you love in difficult situations and worrying about them, every time their name comes into your mind, send them love. When it’s fear in the form of illness, send them love and healing thoughts rather than worrying and more fear. When people discuss the current economy situation, especially if they are personally dealing with challenges due to it, send them love rather than conversing about how bad things seem to be. Send your family, friends, and world citizen’s love, for if you believe that what you put out there comes back to you – send love and be ready to receive it.

This week’s affirmation:

I send loving thought to myself and others.

Quotes of the week:

“It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.”

~Ralph Waldo Emerson

“In helping others, we shall help ourselves, for whatever good we give out completes the circle and comes back to us.”

~Flora Edwards

“Sometimes creativity just means the daily work of helping others to see a problem in a different way.”

~Joseph Badaracco

“What looks like a loss may be the very event which is subsequently responsible for helping to produce the major achievement of your life.”

~Srully Blotnick

For the next week I invite you to help by:

Appreciating the fact that life is filled with choices and you get to choose yours as others get to choose theirs - choose from a space of love.

Loving you, others, and life – when you live in a space of love, all is well.

Asking you, what would love do or what would love say? When you speak from love, you should feel empowered. If it’s a disempowered feeling, perhaps fear has crept in. Love can and does say no when it’s needed.

Mostly, I invite you to become aware of your thoughts. If you want more love for you and others, send out loving thoughts. If you want great health for you and others, send out thoughts of health. If you want more abundance for you and others, send out thoughts of abundance.

Until next week, I send you love, health, and abundance to help you on your journey.

Hugs,
~Carol

Be Careful

March 18th, 2009 10:45 am by Carol

When it rains, it pours. I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. I wouldn’t have any luck at all if it weren’t for bad luck. Be careful what you wish for. I’m sure you are familiar with some or all of these statements. Do any of them ring true for you? A good friend of mine put a much needed twist on one of them that I love. Be careful what you worry about.

Take a moment and think about what you primarily focus on? Do you put your attention to the fear based headlines that speak to your insecurity? Do focus on what you don’t have or don’t want? Or do you put your focus on hope, goodness, good health, possibilities, prosperity, positivity, and love? Benjamin Franklin was quoted as saying “Do not anticipate trouble or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight.” If you worry about what tomorrow might bring, you are missing the opportunity to bask in the love that is around you at this moment. If you worry about what you could have, should have done differently yesterday, you are missing the opportunity to grow and blossom today.

Quotes of the Day:

“Seek not that the things which happen should happen as you wish; but wish the things which happen to be as they are, and you will have a tranquil flow of life.”

 ~ Epictetus

“The fact is that people are good, if only their fundamental wishes are satisfied, their wish for affection and security. Give people affection and security, and they will give affection and be secure in their feelings and their behavior.”

 ~ Abraham Maslow

“Worry often gives a small thing a big shadow”

~Proverb

“Worry is interest paid on trouble before it comes due.”

~ W. R. Inge

“If you ask what the single most important key to longevity is, I would have to say it is avoiding worry, stress and tension. And if you didn’t ask me, I’d still have to say it.”

~George F. Burns

For the next week, I invite you to put your attention to hope and possibilities by:

Seeing the good in every situation and focusing on the positive of it.

Loving you, others, and life.

Being gentle with yourself as you shift into a new vantage point of possibilities as there is no need to demean yourself for contrasting thoughts as they help define where you do want to go.

Allowing everyone to travel their own path even if it isn’t the path you ‘think’ they should take, simply send them down their path with love.

Mostly, I ask you to be part of the change we seek in the world filled with love, compassion, kindness, and joy by allowing your best self to shine bright. Your best self knows you are connected to humanity and in that knowing all is well. Your best self knows that enjoying this now moment perpetuates more wonderful moments to enjoy. Your best self knows that worry gets you no where and love is where life resides.

Until next time, throw caution to the wind and simply live in the sunlight of life.

Hugs,
~Carol

Spring Cleaning

March 11th, 2009 01:28 pm by Carol

Spring is in the air and with that, so is spring cleaning! I love spring for a variety of reasons – rejuvenation of life, flowers blooming, warmer weather, and sunnier skies. I also enjoy spring cleaning as it’s a time to get rid of things that no longer serve me and open up space for the newness of the season. I give some things away that can be of service to others, while other items are simply discarded. I open the windows to freshen the winter air, put on some good tunes, and start cleaning my space.

How about using spring cleaning as a time to not only clean your physical space, but also to clear your mental space? Do a spring clearing of negative thoughts and beliefs that no longer serve you. Open up your heart and let some fresh and uplifting thoughts in. Share thoughts of hope, love, and possibilities with others. Say goodbye to limiting beliefs and discard doom and gloom thoughts. When you start clearing out those old thoughts and allowing refreshed, positive thoughts in, simply watch yourself bloom and come alive to living your life fulfilled.

Quotes of the day:

“Nature is springs way of saying, “Let’s Party”

~Robin Williams

“Sitting quietly, doing nothing, spring comes, and the grass grows by itself.”

~Zen Proverb

“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant,, if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.”

~Anne Bradstreet

“The splendor of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of it’s scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness.”

~Therese of Lisieux

Affirmation of the day:

I continue to flourish and grow in all aspects of my life

For the next week, I invite you to clean out your consciousness by:

Affirming your truth of goodness, beauty, love, and joy

Seeing the good in you, others, and in life

Asking you what would love say or do and act accordingly

Mostly, my wish for you is to clear out any cobwebs of negative self talk and old beliefs and open yourself up for the possibility of life being an amazing journey.

Until next week, open the window to your soul and let the sun shine in.
