“We need 4 hugs a day for survival, 8 hugs a day for maintenance, and 12 hugs a day for growth” ~ Virginia Satir

Positive Focus: GLOBAL FREE HUG DAY:

 October 19 11:00 – 1:00 pm

When: October 19, 11:00 an – 1:00 pm your local time

Where: you decide location

Why: to spread love around the world one hug at a time

How: loving spirit, smiling face, open arms, and a sign saying free hugs

Positive Focus has been having so much fun giving free hugs around Chicago in 2008, that we’ve decided to raise the bar and hug globally. Can you imagine the lift in energy all over the world as others join in?

Sign up: Tell us your name, location, others hugging with you so we can create a map to show all the global huggers.

What do you need? You need a loving spirit, open arms, a smile that is inviting, and a sign that says Free Hugs.

When should you hug? Due to varying time zones, start your hugging event wherever you are located, between 11 am and 1 pm your time. Feel free to adjust your time to match our 11 am CST, but only if you want to.

How to organize a local group of huggers? First of all, you don’t need to organize, go solo, go with a friend, a group of friends, church group, social group, family - it’s easy: a willing person and a free hug sign is all that is needed.

Take Pictures: We will be creating a blended Global Free Hug video shortly after the event, so take pictures and send them to Carol Miller within 24/48 hours after the event to be included in the video.

It is our intention to have people hugging on each continent, so be part of spreading joy, love, and simply connection to the world citizens.

To stay at arms reach of what’s going on with Global Free Hugs; tell me to include you in future update emails on where hugs will be taking place.

Positive Focus building overview

October 14th, 2007 08:58 pm by Carol

The ambience of the Positive Focus Facility is electric and palpable.

It provides a synergistic atmosphere for individuals and organizations committed to the same “positive focus” vision. From this unified spirit, a unique, diverse, constructive, creative world emanates. The concentrated positive focus of the community exponentially accelerates the creative process and provides many opportunities to joint venture and to stimulate thought by exposure to innovations in other unrelated contexts.

Positive Focus provides breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and downtown Chicago. You feel the energy of the Lake and the City from every vantage point. Positive Focus combines living and vocation space. The vocation spaces accommodate retail, office space, a preschool and school, spaces for the arts, and a Serenity & Wellness Boutique Hotel with performance, banquet and convention space. The development utilizes sustainability architecture and principles. It has a roof top green space and an open-air quadrangle for residents and public use.

At Positive Focus everything physical (the architecture, building materials, decorations, lighting, landscaping, etc.) embodies our values. It is a beautiful and harmonious oasis of fun, peace, pleasantness, creativity, caring, and warmth. Water flows (figuratively, aurally, and physically) throughout the space, creating an undercurrent of sound and motion that subconsciously reminds us to always focus on, and live, positive flow. Even when festive and bubbling with laughter, joy and activity, there is an underlying calmness throughout the space.

Residential Space

October 14th, 2007 08:57 pm by Carol

The residential space offers like-minded individuals the opportunity to live beside neighbors dedicated to focusing on the positive. Studio, one, two, and three bedroom condominium residences will provide breathtaking city andlake views, green access both on the roof and in the quadrangle, and full access to all development amenities including 24/7 home delivery by the health conscious restaurant. Enjoy the friendly and peaceful ambiance while soaking in the positive energy. Come home to Positive Focus.

School

October 14th, 2007 08:56 pm by Carol

A forward thinking school for students ages 4 - 18 with many specialty and open areas for exploration. School areas include an arts and crafts room, a kitchen, a library, a computer room, a soundproofed music room, a vegetable garden area, a lunchroom, a cubby room to place children’s personal belongings, a half court gym, a large common room/meeting room that includes a raised stage area to accommodate school/parent meetings, a playground area in the development quadrangle, and classrooms of various sizes. Artists and businesses in the development often provide mentoring/learning opportunities for students.

Vocation Space

October 14th, 2007 08:56 pm by Carol

The vocation space provides a research and development/think tank like atmosphere for the development of positive and innovative solutions of all kinds in all fields.

It provides business entities the opportunity to frequently interrelate with each other in very creative, cooperative, and mutually beneficial ways. All vocation partners have a strong commitment to authenticity, excellence, service and making the world a happier, better place through their unique contribution.

Public events sponsored by Positive Focus and our vocation partners go on constantly. Vocation partners offer a wide variety of goods and services (e.g. grocery store, artists, gallery, bookstore, spa, yoga, massage, health club, holistic professionals, alternative health care practitioners, apothecary, shared services suites, etc.).

Child Care

October 14th, 2007 08:55 pm by Carol

A supportive child care environment that lovingly responds to the needs of young children based on the Reggio Emilia philosophy. There are separate spaces for quiet and sensory areas and distinct areas specifically for infants (starting at 6 weeks old), early walkers, and preschool children. An outside play area is also available in the development quadrangle. Parents have available a separate space where they can drop in and spend time (e.g. lunch hour) with their child. Philosophically, the environment, nurtures independence and mutual respect. As children are ready and if they will be transitioning into the school, they have the opportunity to spend some of the day in Child Care area and a set portion of part of their day in the Sudbury School area to ease the transition.

Wellness Hotel

October 14th, 2007 08:54 pm by Carol

A full service, 150 room, boutique hotel provides an atmosphere that emphasizes serenity and wellness in an environmentally sensitive and conscientious way.In keeping with Chicago’s pet friendly reputation a segregated pet friendly floor including a pet activity area is available to guests.Guests can also access other development services (meditation, yoga, health club, massage, alternative healers, etc.). Guest can dine at our award winning healthy eating restaurant or order from Room Service 24/7.

Restaurant

October 14th, 2007 08:52 pm by Carol

An award winning restaurant features a broad range (breakfast, sandwiches, entrees, bakery, dessert, etc.) healthy (organic, cage free options, free range, etc.) food.

A full menu (omnivore, vegan, vegetarian, raw food, etc.) of delicious food, beautiful presentation, presented in a wonderful atmosphere with impeccable service - that it is also very healthful and nutritious is an after thought.
