Build Your Resume and Take Flight!

July 7th, 2010 08:27 am by Carol

In the business world we are told to have an updated resume at all times as you never know when you are going to need it. At a moment’s notice you are prepared to take the next step in your career as your resume is ready to be sent out, received, and decided upon. You are ready to go. You are ready to fly! How about in your life? Are you prepared to take the next step in your life? Are you ready to go? Are you ready to fly? Do you know what you want? Do you know what you love? What are you passionate about? What are your dreams? How about being prepared to fly in your life as you’ve been taught to fly in your career? How about showcasing your purpose, successes, desires, and dreams in a life resume?

AFFIRMATION: My life is filled with amazing people and experiences.

(S)he Said:

“We are at our very best, and we are happiest, when we are fully engaged in work we enjoy on the journey toward the goal we’ve established for ourselves. It gives meaning to our time off and comfort to our sleep. It makes everything else in life so wonderful, so worthwhile.”  ~ Earl Nightingale

“The world has the habit of making room for the man whose words and actions show that he knows where he is going.”  ~ Napoleon Hill

“When you discover your mission, you will feel its demand. It will fill you with enthusiasm and a burning desire to get to work on it.” ~ W. Clement Stone

“The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.” ~Mitch Albom

For the next week, I invite you to create your life resume by:

Writing a life purpose statement: this should capture what brings you joy, love, and passion. When you read your purpose statement, it should immediately make you tingle with excitement.

Writing down 10 of your current life successes. This can be from graduating high school, getting a promotion, getting married, having a child, climbing a mountain, or getting out of bed through a period of illness. We often focus on what we haven’t done right in life rather than what we have, so let’s shift our thoughts to success over failure.

Writing down 10 things you are grateful for currently in your life. I am grateful for my health. I am grateful for my family. I am grateful for my happiness. And remember you should even be grateful for the contrasting experiences as it’s helping you define your desires by showing you what you don’t want.

Writing down 5 to 10 affirmations of where you want your life to move towards. This could be new job, new home, relationships, health, or anything that brings your happiness and excitement about the future.

Writing down 5 to 10 of your strengths. How many times have told people – I’m not good at that. Write down what you are good at!

Writing down 5 to 10 activities and hobbies you love to do.

Include a couple quotes that inspire you. Writing down three references of people you can call when you need that ‘You Rock’ inspirational boost. These references should be people who see your truth and support you in your journey as you do them.

Writing your life resume to really see how amazing your life already is and that it will catapult you to even greater heights. Read your life resume often. Update it often as while you grow, so will your desires and dreams. Read it on the days filled with successes and say YAY ME. Read it on days of contrasts to remind you of your purpose, your dreams, and your desires. Call your references to celebrate your successes. Call your references on when you need an inspirational boost on contrasting experiences.

Mostly, celebrate where you are today. Celebrate your yesterdays as they’ve brought you to today. Celebrate your tomorrows as your life’s resume is going to take flight and you will fly high.  I already see you soaring!

Until next time, fly high – naturally of course. :)

Keep living big, loving big, and laughing along the journey.

Someday

June 30th, 2010 08:03 am by Carol

NEWS FLASH: Someday I will be happy. Someday I will be physically fit. Someday I will have my dream job. Someday my prince will come. Some day my princess will come. Someday I will (fill in the blank with your someday wishes).

I’m sure each of you have felt the someday wishes at some point in your life, and most likely hold onto them today. I’ve sure played the someday game myself. Today just isn’t that day to start on happiness, health, abundance, as I’m just too busy. Or I’ve already messed up today, so I’ll start tomorrow.

NEWS FLASH: Today IS someday. Today IS the moment to begin your someday wishes. Today IS the day that if your someday wishes falter a bit, that you move through it and continue on your path of living life fulfilled. Today IS that day, so make it your best ever.

AFFIRMATION: Today I will shine bright.

(S)he Said:

“Someday perhaps the inner light will shine forth from us, and then we’ll need no other light.” ~ Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

“How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will have been all of these.” ~ George Washington Carver

“Procrastination is the fear of success. People procrastinate because they are afraid of the success that they know will result if they move ahead now. Because success is heavy, carries a responsibility with it, it is much easier to procrastinate and live on the ’someday I’ll’ philosophy.” ~ Dennis Waitley

“Winning is great, sure, but if you are really going to do something in life, the secret is learning how to lose. Nobody goes undefeated all the time. If you can pick up after a crushing defeat, and go on to win again, you are going to be a champion someday.”  ~ Wilma Rudolph

For the next week, I invite you to make everyday you’re someday by:

Forgiving yourself for delaying your dreams because you are too busy to start, you’ll start tomorrow, next week, next month.

Appreciating your current situation and seeing the beauty in it. Appreciation and gratitude builds on more appreciation and gratitude which makes each day better.

Starting right now; at this very moment you can start creating your dreams. Even if your morning wasn’t a great start to creating your dreams, let that go and start fresh now. Why wait until another day, start now.

Being gentle with yourself as we all have moments of doubt and fall back to our prior beliefs that we aren’t good enough for our dreams and delay creating them so we don’t fail. Simply know each step forward is a step towards living that dream.

Mostly, my wish for you is to realize you can start living life fulfilled at this very second. You don’t need to wait for a new day, a new month, and a new season. This very moment is your someday, so dream big, love big, and live big.

Until next time, I see all of your days being bright, happy, and filled with love, and I invite you to see that too.

Keep living big, loving big, and laughing along the journey.

Have you ever felt you have great ideas but don’t know where to begin? Have you ever felt you want to make that leap, but are unsure if you are truly ready? Have you wanted to change careers but don’t feel you have what it takes?

If your dreams and desires seem to daunting for you to reach, I invite you to stretch into them rather than leap.

Elite professional athletes don’t hit the winning home run, score the winning touchdown, or sink the winning basket without preparation. They have a game plan built on believing in themselves, visualizing the end result, and stretching to loosen up to allow their brilliance to shine. They are continually stretching both figuratively (mind) and literally (body) to live their highest dreams. They develop core muscles of confidence and determination. They visualize where they are going from putting on the uniform to winning the game. They stretch before each game to loosen up and allow their greatness to show up in its highest form.

Affirmation: I am always stretching toward my dreams.

(S)he Said:

“When you engage in systematic, purposeful action, using and stretching your abilities to the maximum, you cannot help but feel positive and confident about yourself.” ~Brian Tracy

“By stretching yourself beyond your perceived level of confidence you accelerate your development of competence.” ~Michael J. Gelb

“Stretching his hand up to reach the stars, too often man forgets the flowers at his feet.” ~Jeremy Bentham

“Ambition has one heel nailed in well, though she stretch her fingers to touch the heavens.” ~ Lao Tzu

For the next week I invite you to stretch by opening your:

Arms wide and embracing the amazing possibilities you get to choose from.

Heart and living each day from a space of love and appreciating where you’ve been, where you are now, and looking forward to where you are going.

Mind by affirming that not only do you deserve to be the best YOU, but that you owe it to yourself and the world to live the life of your dreams.

Creativity and truly seeing you living the life of your dreams and knowing you deserve it.

Mostly, I invite you to loosen up and see the good in you, see the love in you, see the gentleness in you, see the greatness in you, and stretch from fear based feelings and reactions. I promise you, the more you stretch, the better you’ll feel.

Until next time, simply loosen up and allow your winning spirit to shine.

Keep living big, loving big, and laughing along the journey.
