An Interview with Mark Anthony Lord
By, Carol Miller
You are the Founder of the Bodhi Spiritual Center in Lincoln Park. What inspired you to leave that position?
As the Founder I gave my life to the Bodhi Spiritual Center for 11 years, but the last couple years became increasingly harder. I was burnt out, and unable to manage the many demands that were placed upon me. I didn’t know how to ask for help or how to put up the white flag of surrender – so I just kept on trying to do it all. It ultimately was at mine and other’s expense. I finally realized that my time there was coming to an end, and even more importantly, I was in the way of it growing and becoming what it is meant to become. It’s REALLY hard to be the Founder and realize your job is now to let go and go.
At the same time, a vision to serve the LGBT world (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) that had lived in my heart for many years started coming back to life. I decided to listen to that dream and hear what it had to say to me. It said, “For this you have come.” You can’t really ignore that kind of guidance – so I started to pray and vision around this. It scared me, but I asked myself this question – “If money were no issue – you had all you ever needed, what would you do with your time and talent?” Then the answer to serve and help LGBT people awaken to their inherent freedom and personal power came right up.
Is this what prompted you to create the Global Pride Summit?
Yes, and … I have spent many years healing my own internalized homophobia, shame and the varied ways it played out in my life – low self-esteem, unworthiness, addiction, fear, lying about who I really am, etc. Now that I live on the other side of that painful way of living I feel called to help other LGBT people experience the same freedom. I really love being gay – and I want to help every LGBT person i the world have that same, inner experience around their orientation and gender. The laws or the land are changing, but does that mean we are suddenly healed from all the religious and societal wounding we have endured? No. That’s our work to do.
What is the Global Pride Summit?
It’s a FREE, ONLINE conference (meaning you can watch it on your computer, in your home, or anywhere you are). It is here to empower LGBTA people to become free from internalized homophobia so that we can all live happy, healthier, more fulfilling lives. When we do that – the world changes for the better!
It happens June 1-5, the first days of the month of PRIDE. We say we are kicking off the Pride by taking you INSIDE … yourself!
Who is the Global Pride Summit for?
The LGBT world, and Allies – straight people who stand with the LGBT world in their freedom. It’s for everyone who wants to learn more about LGBT issues and how to overcome them, or serve LGBT people in overcoming them.
You have an amazing lineup of guest speakers – many whom I know and love. What made you choose them?
I have worked in the world of self-empowerment and spirituality for over 20 years. This has given me access to some of the most brilliant Thought Leaders, Coaches, Healers, Teachers, etc. I started there. Believe me – I know there are SO MANY qualified people who could be guests on this Summit. I hope to have them on in the future – but to begin, I had to start where I am.
Michael Bernard Beckwith – MY minister and teacher! A man of such deep wisdom, love, and power – he’s brilliant!
Gabby Bernstein – COME ON – who doesn’t love her? I met her at Bodhi Spiritual Center, and we had an instant connection. She’s an Ally and so inspiring! She’s a powerful teacher of how to allow Miracles into your life.
Robert Ohotto – an intuitive who is a powerful guide for people to discover their own inner power and freedom. He’s super sexy (as you know) – but just as he’s sexy, he’s the real deal!
Sunny Dawn Johnston – I also met her through Bodhi. She’s a medium, an Angel Communicator, and a light for all of us. She shares such a deep story of how vulnerably is healing and the right path to take.
How long will each speaker talk?
20 – 40 minutes
How can people access these talks? Will the talks be available after-the-fact, or only live?
Simply register: HERE – and each day (June 1-5) you will receive in your inbox access to that days interviews. If you cannot carve out the time to view them, you do have the option to purchase the entire set of interviews for only $97. This way you have them and can watch them at your leisure – over and over. AND – buy one GIFT ONE. For each purchase we will gift the Summit to LGBT organizations who can use them for their clients, as well as LGBTA people who don’t have the financial resources but need the support this Summit brings.
Is there going to be a live audience, or is this totally online?
Online – however, each evening we will have live Webinars with some of the guests from that day.
What are your expectations of the summit? How many people do you hope will participate?
Our hope is that 10,000 people will register. It’s the game of #’s, for sure. Our goal is to sell 1000 of them so we can donate that many around the world, as well as have the resources to produce a Summit in the Fall, 2015 on LGBT relationships and marriage, and then an LGBT Youth Summit in Winter, 2016.
Our expectation is that those who attend this Summit will a) feel more empowered and happy to be LGBT or A. b) Become aware of the needs of the other letters as well as more conscious of how we can help each other. c) be able to do another one! 🙂
