I’m part of the Holistic Moms Network. Every month a group of women meet and learn on topics of interest. Last night’s session was “Family Meal Planning”. I told my husband, Jeff, to mark it on his calendar two months ago because I was not going to miss this one!
I’m so glad I didn’t. We had four guest speakers, all mothers themselves. Each shared their personal stories and wisdom. I am a healthy eater but I still walked away with my brain spinning as I tried to process what I’d learned. It’s moments like these where I get re-inspired. I love learning. I love being with women. I love sharing my experiences and hearing others to better myself and my family.
I came home and made a list of my ‘take aways’. One speaker shared that her family starts their days off with a smoothie. She wakes up, goes to the kitchen, makes a smoothie (greens, cucumber, lemon, celery and more). Then her kids come downstairs and they each drink a smoothie while she makes breakfast. She said, “We all start off our days with a salad. That way, even if the rest of the day goes down the shoot, we got our veggies in first thing.”
I have made smoothies before, but not lately. This morning, I was excited to make them again. Mine was different but still green and healthy. Not only did Luca down his but he reached for Michaela’s as soon as he was done (she was still upstairs). Earlier this week Luca had an allergic reaction to eating some processed crackers. He has had a small flare up the last four days by noon, until today. He normally eats more than my husband and all week he’s been nibbling. I was so happy to see him wanting more and more of my green goodness!
I feel inspired today: inspired by learning, inspired by community, inspired by the good food the Earth gives us. I know I may sound a little out there but that’s okay by me. I believe in real, whole foods and I am proud that I share that passion with my family.
This week, think about how you nourish your mind and body. Learn more about your passion-we never know everything on a topic, no matter how much we love it. Learning is cool. It stimulates our minds and gets the creative juices flowing. It peps up a part of our life, in my case, my meals. We are blessed to have sooo much information, so readily available to our fingertips 🙂 Don’t let another week go by you without nourishing your mind or body. It’ll make you feel good. It’ll make you feel alive!
Wishing you a healthy, happy week.
P.S. I posted more information from last’s night’s meeting on myblog—momange.wordpress.com so if you’re challenged with ‘meal planning’ you may learn a trick or two 🙂
