As I spent some time deciding what my New Year’s Resolutions were going to be I learned something. According to a news report only 8% of people fulfill their resolutions. Why such a low number? Probably because we all set too many, high, unattainable goals.
In 2014, I will be among the 8%. Mostly because I’m not setting any goals. I’m letting go of the idea of “making myself perfect” in 2014. Instead, I’m just going to resolve to follow my own lead. My lead right now is to be loving and embrace all who I am. Like I said last week we are made the way we’re supposed to be.
I am a great friend to others but hard on myself. This year I’m going to be a friend to me too. My only goal is to enjoy life–the NOW in each day. It’s soooo easy to want to perfect things in my life without pausing to realize that my life is pretty perfect. I mean lives aren’t made to be perfect but mine seems pretty amazing, so I’m going to love it.
Follow YOUR own lead in 2014. What does your heart tell you to do? (Did you make a list of 20 resolutions? How are you doing with them so far?) I’m going to tune into mine and just be me. Sounds easy enough but most of us do much more for others than we do for ourselves. We turn outward for support when the answers we need lie in our own hearts. I’m learning to listen to my own voice and my own heart. It makes me as happy as Luca’s sweet, smiley face shows.
I hope you’re smiling and happy like Luca too. Whatever your goals are for the year, make sure they are what YOU want, for YOU, and small enough so that you can actually reach them. I’m routing for you!
Wishing you an energy filled week as we hold onto the closeness of the new year!
