Luca rolled over for the first time last Wednesday! Just to make sure he knew how to do it he did it three times. Once in his bassinet, once for Mama and once for Micha. Micha’s reaction made me laugh out loud. When she saw him, she shouted, “Luca vueltaaaa!!” (which means “Luca turned”). She was as loud and excited as I was when I saw him. I love these tender moments when Michaela marvels at her brother. She loves to play with him, be near him and, just like me, she’s excited when he reaches another milestone.
I didn’t catch Luca in action (he’s too quick with his flip–haha!) but I did snap pics of my little Roller Bear. (Get it? Love when I make myself chuckle!)
This sweet boy is melting hearts between his mom and sister. As I was taking his picture he was gabbing away, retelling us how he positioned his body and how cool it felt to land on his back after trying so hard.
I remember how excited I got when Micha started ‘doing new things’. I didn’t know that I’d get equally as excited when Luca did them, but I am. He’s his own person and it’s wonderful to see him change and grow more into himself.
If you think about how little a roll is, it may not seem like something to write home about. But the truth is, if you take time to watch your child concentrate, position his limbs in the right places and exert all his energy to this movement, you realize how awesome it is. Awesome things are definitely worth writing home about–or blogging about!
I hope you find a moment or two this week to watch your little bundle. Marvel at something he/she can do. The newness of their actions quickly fades as they reach another milestone so treasure each one as it comes.
Bear hugs, (heehee)
