I don’t know why these three words are hard to embrace but they are. I expect perfection from myself all the time (clean house, healthy homemade meals, laundry done, workouts completed, happy kids, happy hubby and content, calm self). It’s unrealistic but I keep striving for it.
I watch my husband in envy (and anger) at his ability to relax. His logical (and correct) approach is that there is always going to be something to do so you have to relax at times. I can only relax when I plan to relax and I don’t plan it so imagine how tightly wound up I am!
There I go beating myself up again. As parents and human beings, we often strive to do more and be better. While it’s good to push ourselves and have dreams, we all need to pause and relax every once and a while. There are always going to be things to do, places to go and errands to run. Life doesn’t stop, so we have to. If we embrace the fact that we are enough, “you are enough”, we can relax because all our ‘to dos’ will be waiting for us when we’re done.
Make a plan to relax this week. While you’re at it, soak in the fact that “you are enough”. In fact, I’m pretty confident that we are all MORE than enough 🙂
